Holiday Charitable Giving
By Cerise Vasquez Wright
Holiday charitable giving is in full swing this month. People love to give back during this busy time of year. In fact, the best holiday parties are spent with loved ones and helping others. It’s no wonder that #GivingTuesday has become so popular.
This past week, Girl2B hosted a holiday charitable giving soiree at Desi Galli in New York City. Friends of G2B noshed on delicious authentic Indian food. This year’s G2B get-together is sure to go down as one of the best holiday parties. While mingling, guests got the chance to hear stories of co-founder Christine’s latest trip to Kolkata where she shopped with the girls in local merchant markets.
Giving Back Tuesday Is a Thing Now
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is now officially renamed “Giving Back Tuesday”. Charites are now able to raise awareness, and hopefully donations, through this new platform. In fact, #GivingTuesday has been trending on Twitter for several weeks. This uptick in charity engagement is necessary for the not-for-profits that rely on sponsors and word- of- mouth to help those less fortunate. G2B, along with hosting holiday charitable giving parties and Giving Back Tuesday campaigns, seeks to spread the holiday cheer by hosting “Charity Shoppe” type sales benefiting the 55+ girls we support in India.
Without your help, these girls would be on the street subject to sex trafficking, rape or worse. Giving back Tuesday doesn’t have to be relegated to only Tuesdays. Donate whenever you are able or host your own holiday charitable giving party benefiting your favorite cause.
