This is a very special thank you note from a recent Girl2B High School graduate, featured above in the red shirt.
On behalf of this special lady , we would like to thank all of our “investors” for investing not only in her, but in all the girls in our program.
Letter below is written by our graduate, Jabeda.
I am a Liberian born on 10th October 1993 with a single mother who works as a domestic servant. I have two younger sisters of 15 and 12 and two brothers who live separately with our father. My father married for the second time, and has left my mother abandoned forever. When I was 6 years old, I roamed naked because I was unaware of my existence, but after me being helped by a local foundation, my whole being was enriched and glorified, it became safer and my life got the meaning of its existence. I started dreaming, started staying in fantasy world’s and I started aiming:
To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of my hand and eternity in an hour
And so today, all of this dreaming is possible, because I am being provided with my educational facilities and so I am training myself to harness such impossibilities. All these are possible only because of their mercy, sympathy, love, and care for me. Their inspiration has affected me so immensely that I am a person whose background was dark but to gods grace, I have attained ICSE Exam, 10th grade from a reputed school, and ISC Exam, 12th grade from a religious, famous and standard school named St. Paul’s Boarding and Days school. Now I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts, specializing in English.
If they wouldn’t be here than I would be nowhere-my life would be worthless. My mother cannot take me home because she cannot afford to keep me safely, as she is insecure in her master’s house. But see me, I am not less happy than any other ordinary girl of my age. It is all because both Christine and Alfonso with Girl2B sponsoring me so that I can stay in a hostel safely and during the vacations I can have a place which I will call my home, and it is a place where I don’t have to be worried, and a place where I can rest my head peacefully. Whatever I am today, it is all because of you both and my thinking will be less to your concerns. You both are my limelight, without you I am and will be lost.
Your every little concerns encourages me to live my dreams, to embrace the uncertainty of life, and to rise to my own unique destiny. Your inimitable love and concern for us help bring out the warrior of the light within each of us. And you both appreciate the miracle of being alive, and your quest leads us to become the person we want to be. Thank you for fighting every day and night in order to brighten up my life. So I will always be your “Girl 2B”, fighting to survive, and to represent in her life the complete significance of the spirit and mission of our logo to which I belong.
